Technology Offerings
The DSLA is committed in providing state-of-the-art technology resources that compliment the academic curriculum. The DSLA recognizes the unique learning style of the "digital natives", and strives to provide a 21st Century environment for the students to thrive.
The DSLA Technology Plan for 2009-2012 was recently approved by the Michigan Department of Education. To view our plan please click here .
The DSLA takes very seriously the protection of students from malicious and destructive activities on the Internet. The DSLA utilizes advanced technology to comply with the Children Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
Classroom technology
Classrooms at the DSLA provide the opportunity for teachers and students to work cooperatively with an interactive white board. These state-of-the-art devices allow the teachers to share lessons with their students and for students to interact with the lessons. Students are able to test via a "student response system", similar to a television remote control.
computer labs
The DSLA is equipped with computer labs for students to work in groups, on assessments, or to search for relevant information as related to the needs of the class. The DSLA also offers computers on wheels (COWS) and bring the lab to the classroom. These COWS allow students to work in the comfort of their classrooms.
new for 2009!
With the implementation of a new video production lab, students now will be able to story board, write a script, shoot, and edit a digital story.
The DSLA was recently awarded a grant that will allow students to work with the Michigan State Police in the production of a 30 second public service announcement (PSA) regarding the Help Eliminate Auto Theft (HEAT) Project. The HEAT project will provide a officer to work with the students on the HEAT program as well as provide a digital video camera for the students to use in producing the PSA.
